30/08/25, The National Stock Exchange (NSE), in a circular on Friday, announced that it will conduct a comprehensive mock trading session today (Saturday), August 30, across its equities, derivatives, currency, and commodities segments.

The session is a routine part of the exchange's market preparedness efforts, helping brokers test their systems ahead of a mandatory software migration.

NSE Mock Trading Session Timing Today

The mock trading session on August 30 began with a pre-market session at 9:00 AM, with live trading scheduled from 9:15 AM to 10:10 AM.

A separate re-login window will be open from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM to allow participants to check connectivity and system stability.

The NSE clarified that this drill will not involve any fund movements or software updates.

All trades executed during the mock session will be simulated and will not result in any actual fund pay-ins or payouts.
The exchange added that no fresh software updates wil be release during today's drill. The NSE also encouraged participants to use the opportunity to run contingency exercises and test their backup systems in a controlled environment.

Mandatory software upgrade

The mock session comes as market participants face a deadline to migrate to the latest NEAT+ version 7.8.3 software. The older version, 7.8.2, will be discontinued after September 6. The NSE has stressed the importance of a timely migration to prevent any market disruptions once the older version is phased out.

Why mock trading is important?

Mock trading sessions, typically held on Saturdays, are crucial for brokers to validate their infrastructure, check order management systems, and test new products. The prices displayed during the drill will be mock values and not a reflection of live market activity.

The NSE stated that such exercises are designed to identify potential glitches before they can impact investors, thereby strengthening the overall resilience and confidence of the market.
